Leoš Janáček primary school in Hukvaldy [ Architectonic monument ]

Základní škola Leoše Janáčka Hukvaldy
Hukvaldy as a mansion had its own chateau chaplain as early as in 1563 and had an exceptional status as for the education. The chaplain was at the same time a teacher of clerks_ children and the castle inhabitant. After the destruction of the castle around the year 1762 and construction "Podzámčí" during 1760-70 the Hukvaldy school building was moved into the new residence. In 1816 a new school was established. In 1877 the old school was pulled down and on its place a new building was built. In 1948 the school was placed in the former chateau which was built up in 1760.

At the beginning of the school year 1953/54 there was a new national education reorganization. Old national and secondary schools wore off and a new standard Eight Year secondary school was established. There was a consolidation of the secondary school and former national schools in Rychaltice and Hukvaldy. The new school had 13 classrooms with 346 pupils in three buildings. In 1980 the newly constructed school was opened in Dolní Sklenov and in 1984 it was given a title Leoš Janáček primary school. The academic painter Jan Václav Sládek bequeathed in his testament 103 pictures for the school which create together with the pictures of the local academic painter Antonín Kroča the main decoration of the school.
