Urban monuments preservation area Prachatice [ Městská památková rezervace ]
The town was founded at the beginning of the 14th century, and its plan is typical of towns established at this time.
The historic centre surrounds the square with the Old Town Hall, the former salt-house, and the town houses of the burgesses (the Rumpal, Sytr, Schwarzenberg and Hus houses).
Other important monuments include the Parish Church of St James, the Písek Gate and the Latin school.
