The Czech Greenways

The Partnership Foundation

The Partnership Foundation is the biggest Czech environmental foundation.

The aim of the Partnership Foundation is to support development of citizen society through initiatives and projects improving the environment, development of regions and local communities. The foundation uses a programm of Green trail/Greenways as an effective instrument for supporting the projects connecting care of natural and cultural heritage with sustainable using of local resources and strengthening of communities.

The Programm Greenways Green Trails

Green trails/Greenways is grant and assistance programm of the Partnership Foundation based on the cooperation, partnership and reciprocal coordination of projects and initiatives, close to the mission of this programm.

Non-for-profit organization Partnership

It is a subsidiary company of the Partnership Foundation, established for the purpose of providing informations and services for permanent sustainable development. Currently it is a bearer and coordinator of Moravian Wine Trails - the most extensive project of Greenways in Central Europe.

Greenways Travel Club

It is the local tour-operator with exclusive right of using trade-mark Greenways in the Czech republic. It guarantees a creation and offer of services for tourists on Greenways Prague - Vienna and Greenways Krakow - Moravia - Vienna Greenways Travel Club is a continual and important sponsor of the programm Greenways.

Civil association of Greenways Prague - Vienna

It originated in 2001 as an association of various, especially non-profit-making organizations for purpose of development of corridor between Prague and Vienna. The association supports a cooperation of members of common projects, informs about cultural and tourist actions and participates in tourist product Greenways Prague Vienna.

Association Cycle Path Brno - Vienna

It is an association of municipalities and other subjects with common aim of development of Cycle path Brno Vienna. The association realizes own projects for improving of infrastructure and facilities of the trail, supports development of environmental tourism and participation of enterpreneurs in the whole corridor between Brno and state borders to Austria. Cycle path is currently a part of Greenways Krakow-Moravia-Vienna.

Society of municipalities of Poodří microregion

The society is formed by 10 municipalities in the basin of river Odra. The aim of society is all-round development of microregion and member municipalities. Since 2002 is basin of Odra a guarantee of project Greenways Krakow-Moravia-Vienna in the section from the Polish borders to Southmoravian region.

Other partners of programm Greenways

In the programm of Green trail/Greenways can engage organizations, municipalities and enterpreneurs, or their associated, that with their activity and their projects meet the mission and aims of programm.

Ask for engaging in programm is currently a suggestion of agreement on partnership and cooperation within the programm of Green trail - Greenways.

As per 1st April 2003 official partners of the programm of Green trail Greenways were these organizations:

Slavonice's Renaissance Company, civil association (Slavonická renesanční společnost, občanské sdružení)
Ecocentre Brno (Ekocentrum Brno)
Association Cycle Path Brno Vienna (Sdružení cyklistická stezka Brno Vídeň)
Rožmberk, non-for-profit organization (Rožmberk, obecně prospěšná společnost)

Centrail European Greenways

Long-term cooperation The Partnership Foundation with affiliate foundations in Poland, Hungary and in the Slovak republic was since 1997 formalized into the form of consortium Environmental Partnership for Central Europe. All four affiliate foundations of consortium closely cooperate within the framework of common programms and annually realize several common meeting at various levels. One of common programms is Central European Greenways.

Initiative Central European Greenways is since 2002 a proper member of th European Greenways Association.

European Greenways Association

In May 1997 it was in the framework of the First european conference of environmental transport and lonely railways in Val-Die in Belgium decided about foundation of European Greenways Association European Greenways Association. Constituent meeting of this association took place in Namur in Belgium on 8th January 1998. The statute was signed by seventeen representatives of institutions and association of six European countries.

European Greenways Association wants

to be a co-ordinator or European Greenways, to support their connection and cooperation among them
to contribute to more active and healthy life style
to support a development of countrysice, active tourism and local employment
to understand citizens and strengthen good relations among them
again to understand Europeans with their natural and cultural environment

Greenways in the USA

The United states of America is a birthplace of the idea of Greenways. In the country there exist hundreds of organizations and projects, that cooperate at many levels. The arching institution is non-profit-making organization Trails on Lonely Routes Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, formed for enrichment of communities and landscape and for creating of national network of public trails leading on the former railway routes.

RTC operates information server of the trails in the USA as well on Websites http://www.trailsandgreenways.org, which are the main portal to informations about American Greenways. Here you can find practical informations about news on the trails, about offer of technical help with their realization, maintanance and propagation, extensive bookcase, on-line database of projects, projected studies, selective abstracts of lectures and presentations or also manual for creation of trails. Further here are available contacts on organizations dealing with Greenways, calendar of actions and discuss groups. RTC publishes as well its magazine Rails to Trails and holds regular international conferences of Greenways.
